What is a stay at the Green Frog Therapy Centre like?
The Green Frog was created for all those whose difficulties in life have made it impossible to function in a healthy way on a daily basis. Our team of experienced therapists and trainers, has prepared a special programme to regenerate the stressed body and psyche. The first and most important step is psychiatric-therapeutic consultation with a specialist to take a history and plan the therapy. Therapy sessions take place daily. Every morning we invite you to stretching exercises (yoga) or another form of exercise class under the guidance of a trainer, and in the evening a relaxing and calming Qigong exercises with a master of this eastern art of meditation in movement. In intimate groups of 10 people, the following are carried out therapy sessions. There is also the possibility of an individual session (additional fee). It is worth noting that the number of meetings corresponds to several months of traditional therapy, during which the patient meets with a specialist (usually) only once a week.
Nature is the basis of therapy at Green Frog, and we realise its beneficial and soothing effects through hortitheritherapy or, in other words, horticultural therapy. Already in ancient times, the stimulation of the senses combined with the relaxing care of plants was appreciated. This has a number of therapeutic benefits, including the reduction of stress and tension levels, as well as the acquisition of new skills and botanical knowledge, thereby increasing satisfaction and responsibility and heightening curiosity about the world. Observing plants, transplanting and pruning them is not only a time that relaxes the body, but also an opportunity to make new connections with others.
Other activities that improve mental well-being and enrich the programme of our Centre are forest bathing combined with aromatherapy. Just a 20-minute walk in the forest improves brain function, enhances cognitive function and reduces depression. Inhaling the scent of forest litter improves the mood and the singing of birds helps you to focus on the 'here and now'. Derc's forests are waiting for their visitors to help rehabilitate a stressed psyche.
An extremely effective method of quieting the mind is to walking barefoot on the sensory path. At the Green Frog, our residents have a path with a varied surface (stones, sand, pinecones) and, walking barefoot, they can admire the space around them, listen to the sound of trees and the singing of birds. They can focus on regeneration during a mindfulness hour spent in silence, immerse themselves in reading under the roof of the gazebo with a cup of freshly brewed camomile, or become intoxicated by the scent of the flower meadow and the sound of frogs croaking over the pond.
Another form of rehabilitation of the nervous system in our centre is art therapy consisting of healing through art. Various artistic techniques help to express one's thoughts and feelings, while regulating difficult emotions and increasing self-confidence. Contact with colours and one's own sensitivity makes it possible to regain balance. Participants do not need to have any skills in this direction. The creative process itself is therapeutic.
